When i was at Leeds University I heard
Luis Palau speak at a mission and he fascinated me.
He spoke about the Bible as if it was a daily newspaper,
something that's relevant to our lives today. I started
to go to church to see if I could find anyone who was
as enthusiastic about Christianity as he had been, but
was disappointed. There ended my interest in God until
I got a job in Maidstone working at a girl's Grammar
Schools. My immediate boss and two close colleagues
all turned out to be Christians and had the same "Something"
that the preacher had had. I took my time, but with
their patience and good teaching I eventually decided
to make a commitment to the Christian faith. My life
has NEVER been the same since!
I have had the privilege to spend much time with the
homeless in London, and amongst the many inmates in
prisons up and down the country and men and women in
rehabilitation centres who are trying to put their wrecked
lives back together again. My message to them and to
anybody would be that with God actively in your life,
everything seems to make much more sense. You can each
be in control of your destiny which is inevitably one
to prosper you and not to harm you. I have found that
the only way to achieve this sense of purpose and well
being is to make sure that God lives in the centre of
our heart.
Amen
