I was asked to put down our story
of how our loving Lord and Father heard our prayers
and answered them, so here goes. November 21st 2001,
Jimmy, my husband, woke up feeling a bit breathless
and tight in his chest, as he had a heart attack some
12 years earlier, we made a doctors appointment for
that morning t 10:00am. By 11:00am he was in hospital
and apart from a break of 4 days, did not come home
for 6 months.Jim was transferred to St.Thomas's Hospital
in London on December 21st and they operated in him
the next day for a double
by-pass and mitral valve replacement. We were told there
was a 95% success rate but Jim must have been border
line. they had trouble fitting the valve and following
the operation could not stop the bleeding. They could
not tell me what his chances were and he was in a coma
for a week, all over Christmas. We were going to the
hospital daily and then we were told that he had taken
a "significant backward step" during the night
and that his drugs had been massively increased".
I looked at the nurse and said "we are losing him",
she just looked back at me. I had a panic attack but
the Lord was in control and sent us our minister at
the time, David Mouncer, in on a visit to Jim, and with
my youngest daughter who was with me, we all prayed
"Father God, in the name of your beloved son our
Lord Jesus we are asking you for a miracle for Jimmy".
The very next day we went as usual to the hospital,
my legs were like jelly, and when we went in, one of
my daughters went through first and came out saying
we must wait as "they were working on him".
I thought that this was it. But then she said his eyes
were open. Our prayers had been answered though he was
still very weak and had many set backs. The hospital
fitted a pacemaker and he was let home in March. Only
4 days later his heart was racing so badly I had to
call an ambulance. Again the Lord was in control. Just
as I was phoning, Erica came to deliver a card for Jim.
She is a physiotherapist and has first aid skills which
I don't have, and she stayed with me until my daughter
was able to reach me. later Jim was fitted with a defibrillator
and was finally home on June 4th 2002. On his way to
the operating theatre Jim had prayed "I am in your
hands lord". Now he knows the lord truly answers
prayers and is fully communicant.
Amen
